2. Hosting and server logs
This website is hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Avenue #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA. When you open a page, Vercel processes technically necessary data in server logs: IP address, date and time, the address requested, referrer and browser identifier (user agent). This keeps the website secure and stable. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in secure operation (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). We do not analyse the logs or combine them with other data; Vercel keeps them only for a limited period. Data may be transferred to the USA. Vercel is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (adequacy decision, Art. 45 GDPR), and we have a data processing agreement with Vercel under Art. 28 GDPR, including standard contractual clauses.
3. Fonts
The fonts (Schibsted Grotesk, Instrument Sans, JetBrains Mono) are hosted on our own server. No connection is made to Google Fonts or any other provider.
4. Cookies and local storage
We set no cookies. If you switch between light and dark mode, your browser stores this choice locally ("theme" in local storage). It is not sent to us. This is strictly necessary for the function you asked for (§ 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG). You can delete it in your browser at any time.
5. Email and support
When you write to us, we process what you send (email address, name, message and attached files such as log files or parts) to answer your request. The legal basis is the performance of a contract or of pre-contractual steps (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR), or our legitimate interest in answering enquiries (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). We use parts and log files you send only to understand and fix your problem. We do not pass them on, and we delete them once the support case is closed. We delete messages when they are no longer needed, unless statutory retention periods apply. Our email provider processes emails on our behalf (Art. 28 GDPR).
6. Downloads and purchases via Gumroad
Downloads and purchases run through Gumroad, Inc., USA. When you complete a download or purchase there, Gumroad processes your data (e.g. name, email address, payment details, country) as an independent controller in its role as reseller. Gumroad's privacy policy applies: https://gumroad.com/privacy From Gumroad we receive, for your order: name, email address, country, product, price, order number, licence key and, if provided, your VAT ID. We use this data to perform the licence contract: licence keys, updates, support and refunds (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR). We keep records relevant under commercial and tax law for the statutory periods, usually up to 10 years (Art. 6 (1) (c) GDPR, § 147 AO, § 257 HGB). We send marketing emails only with your express consent.
7. The software (add-in)
The Advanced Surface Tools add-in works locally inside SOLIDWORKS and sends no data to us or to third parties. It writes a log file on your computer (%LocalAppData%\AdvancedSurfaceTools\log.txt), which only you can send to us if you want support. If we introduce licence activation, we will update this policy beforehand. Only the licence key and a non-reversible identifier of the computer would then be transmitted.
8. Your rights
You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20), and to withdraw consent with effect for the future (Art. 7 (3)). Write to the email address above. Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR): where we process data on the basis of legitimate interests (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR), you may object at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation.
9. Right to lodge a complaint
You may lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). You do not have to provide any data to visit this website. For a purchase, the data requested by Gumroad is required; without it we cannot grant a licence. There is no automated decision-making, including profiling. The website is encrypted with TLS throughout. We update this policy when our processing changes. The version published here applies.
