Surface Displace
PRO
Displaces faces with a grayscale image or a built-in texture as real NURBS geometry. Seamless around bottles and cylinders. Export a UV map, paint in Photoshop, bring it back exactly in place.

Where to find it
Advanced Surface Tools tab › Surface Displace. The canvas shows the image or texture over the faces laid flat.
Options
Source = ImageA grayscale image: black = 0, white = full amplitude, or a zero level for raised and sunken areas.
Source = GeneratedTexture presets: sand, orange peel, stone, hammered, crackle, leather, stipple, wood, brushed, knurl, cross-hatch.
OutputReplace faces (fades at every face edge), Surface body (continuous across smooth face edges), or Solid (the displaced faces sewn into the solid).
Edge fadeHow the displacement fades out towards the edges, with a Fade curve.
ModifiersChange the amplitude (%) or add height (mm) locally.
Export UV map…Saves the layout of the faces to paint on elsewhere.
Load image…Recognises a painted UV map and places it exactly. Reload image reads it again after further edits.
Editing the feature
Right-click the Surface Displace feature › Edit Feature. Changes rebuild the result in place.
Good to know
- Detail is limited to about 250 × 250 control points per face.
- Faces that close on themselves work in Cylindrical mapping, with Output = Surface body or Solid.
