Flattens curved faces into a flat layout beside the part. A base for modelling details in the flat.

Where to find it
Select faces, then Advanced Surface Tools tab › Unwrap. OK lays the faces flat as a surface body beside the part.
Options
ModeHow the faces are laid flat: UV, Flatten, Projection or Cylindrical. See How the tools work.
OrientationWhich model axis points up in the flat.
PlacementWhere the flat goes beside the part.
Editing the feature
Unwrap stays parametric: change the faces and the flat follows. Use it to measure developed sizes, to draw on the flat, or as the base for Surface Wrap.
Good to know
- Flatten needs connected faces that do not form a closed surface.
- Spheres and saddles cannot be unfolded without some stretch; the status line shows how much.
